MINNETONKA, Minnesota – (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – Warby Parker brand prescription eyeglasses are now available to approximately 2 million people enrolled in UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans, either online at warbyparker.com or in over 80 Warby Parker stores nationwide.
This is the first time that Warby Parker has accepted Medicare insurance. People enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans that include eyewear benefits through UnitedHealthcare Vision can purchase prescription eyewear from Warby Parker for little or no out-of-pocket expense, often for less than $ 50.

Warby Parker will then ship five frames so they can try them out in the comfort of their home, all at no additional cost.
During the open enrollment season for health benefits 2019, UnitedHealthcare is improving its vision benefits for people enrolled in employer-sponsored and individual plans.

Separately, employers and plan members enrolled in UnitedHealthcare’s medical and vision plans will be able to select a âworkplace safetyâ package that covers a pair of prescription safety glasses or blue-limiting glasses.
âOur expanded relationship with Warby Parker and additional benefit options will help support more Americans with their eye health, which is important to overall health,â said John Ryan, CEO of UnitedHealthcare Vision. âWe know baby boomers are looking for a more convenient and personalized healthcare experience, and we believe they will find Warby Parker’s innovative model both attractive and affordable when they shop for eyewear.â

About Warby Parker
Warby Parker was founded with a rebellious spirit and an ambitious goal: to offer designer eyewear at a revolutionary price, while paving the way for socially responsible businesses. Every idea begins with a problem. Theirs was simple: the glasses are too expensive. By bypassing traditional channels, designing eyewear in-house, and engaging directly with customers, they are able to provide better, better-looking eyeglasses starting at $ 95 (a fraction of the list price) .
Warby Parker also believes everyone has the right to see. Almost a billion people around the world do not have access to glasses, which means that 15% of the world’s population cannot learn or work effectively. To help solve this problem, Warby Parker is partnering with nonprofits like VisionSpring to ensure that for every pair of glasses sold, a pair is distributed to someone in need.
