Aquasphere, the swim and triathlon brand, has announced that 70.3 World Championship silver medalist Sam Long will join its roster of athlete ambassadors.
As part of the partnership, Long will train and compete using Aquasphere’s line of products, including its goggles, wetsuits and training gear. Long joins a roster of world champion athletes on his Aquasphere World Team, including triathletes Timothy O’Donnell, Mirinda “Rinny” Carfrae and competitive swimmer Ben Proud, which was announced earlier this year.
Long is currently ranked fourth in the world in the sport of triathlon. He has been an Aquasphere North America brand ambassador since 2019 and will now endorse its products globally and lend his expertise to the brand’s R&D department in the design and development of future global products.
“Aquasphere is an ideal partner for me because they believe in my ability to conquer the limits and be part of the front runners. As we enter our third year together, I’m super excited to go global and embrace the boundless spirit of the brand,” Long said. “At the same time, I enjoy Aquasphere’s highest quality equipment for training and competition, which is paramount in helping me achieve my goals. I look forward to playing a bigger role in the innovation of Aquasphere products in the future.
Long won silver at the 70.3 World Championships in 2021 and has been labeled “one to watch” by fellow triathletes. He notched victories at Ironman Coeur d’Alene and Ironman 70.3 Boulder last year and has four career 70.3 total wins. Long is also the youngest American to beat the Ironman distance for eight hours.
“As a brand, Aquasphere takes a bold approach, which makes Sam and his big, infectious personality a perfect fit for us,” said Jess Fitzsimon, Global Brand Director of Aquasphere. “Already a terrific and talented athlete, Sam has huge goals and he will play a major role in shaping the future of the sport. We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Sam to a global level, and we look forward to to see what he will accomplish in the years to come.
The brand will continue to add athletes to its triathlon and competitive swim roster, with more athletes to be announced in the coming weeks.
